As the environment around the Eastside of Christchurch has changed so significantly, our connection to it has increased. Our school is surround by what we know as 'The Red Zone' but should really be renamed 'The Green Zone'. Within this land and water from the Ōtakaro River to the ocean, there is so much that we celebrate daily as we pass through it or play in it or live off the fruit that grows within it. Our garden is a tribute to our connection to this land and our role as Kaitiaki, as well as an acknowledgment of what was there in the gardens of those who had to leave this wonderful place. Ngā mihi nui.
